Installing Housing Shells
Get your shells running in minutes
Housing shells are streaming assets that add new interiors to your FiveM server. They work with all major housing scripts including ESX Housing, QBCore Housing, VMS Housing, and RTX Housing.
Requirements
- A FiveM server with txAdmin or direct file access
- A housing script (ESX, QBCore, VMS, or RTX Housing recommended)
- The downloaded shell resource from your CFX Portal
Installation Steps
- Download the shell resource from your CFX Portal
- Extract the zip file — you'll get a folder named something like
dc_houseshell_X
- Upload the folder to your server's
resources directory
- Add the resource to your
server.cfg
ensure dc_houseshell_X
- Restart your server or use
refresh then start dc_houseshell_X in txAdmin
- Configure the shell coordinates in your housing script
Door Offsets Included: All shells include pre-configured door offset data for popular housing scripts. Check the included README.md for specific values.
Troubleshooting
Shell not appearing in-game
Make sure the resource is started correctly. Check your server console for any errors. The resource name in server.cfg must match the folder name exactly.
Black interior / missing textures
This usually means the streaming files aren't loading. Ensure the stream folder is present inside the resource and the fxmanifest.lua is correct.
Installing MLOs
Add custom interiors to your world
MLO (Map Load Object) interiors replace or add new interior spaces to specific locations in the GTA V world. They require no housing script and work as standalone streaming resources.
Installation Steps
- Download the MLO resource from your CFX Portal
- Extract and upload to your server's
resources directory
- Add to
server.cfg
ensure dc_mlo_name
- Restart your server
Location Conflicts: Some MLOs replace existing GTA V locations. If you have other MLOs at the same location, they may conflict. Only run one MLO per location.
Customizing Textures
You can modify textures inside the .ytd files using CodeWalker or OpenIV. This allows you to add custom logos, change colors, and personalize the interior for your server.
Installing Scripts
Premium FiveM resources setup guide
DC Customz scripts support ESX, QBCore, and QBox frameworks. Each script includes a config.lua file for customization.
Dependencies
Most DC Customz scripts require the following resources:
- ox_lib — UI components and utilities
- ox_target — Interaction system
- oxmysql — Database connection
Framework Detection: Scripts auto-detect your framework (ESX/QBCore/QBox). No manual framework selection needed in most cases.
Installation Steps
- Ensure all dependencies are installed and running
- Download the script from your CFX Portal
- Upload to your
resources directory
- Add any required SQL to your database
- Add to
server.cfg after your framework and dependencies
- Configure
config.lua to your server's needs
- Restart server
Configuration
Each script's config.lua is well-commented. Read through it carefully before starting your server. Common settings include job permissions, item names, prices, and location coordinates.
Framework Support
ESX · QBCore · QBox
All DC Customz scripts are built to support the three major FiveM frameworks out of the box.
Supported Frameworks
- ESX — Full support, tested on ESX Legacy
- QBCore — Full support, tested on latest QBCore
- QBox — Full support via QBox compatibility layer
Inventory Systems
Scripts that use items support the following inventory systems:
- ox_inventory
- qb-inventory
- qs-inventory
- ps-inventory
- codem-inventory
Not seeing your inventory? Open a support ticket in Discord and we can add compatibility for your inventory system.
CFX Escrow System
Understanding asset protection
All DC Customz assets use CFX's Escrow system to protect intellectual property. This means the Lua source code is encrypted and can only run on servers linked to the purchasing CFX account.
How It Works
- Assets are encrypted by Tebex/CFX after purchase
- The encrypted files only run on servers where the owner's CFX account is linked
- You cannot share or resell purchased assets
- Assets continue to work as long as your CFX account owns them
Linking Your Server
Your FiveM server must be linked to your CFX account in the CFX Portal for escrow assets to run correctly.
Server Key Required: Make sure your server's license key in server.cfg matches the account that purchased the assets. Mismatched accounts will cause escrow errors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions and answers
Purchasing
Can I use assets on multiple servers?
Assets are licensed per CFX account. You can run them on any server linked to your account, but you cannot share them with others.
Do I get updates for free?
Yes — if an asset receives an update, you can re-download the latest version from your CFX Portal at no extra cost.
What if I accidentally bought the wrong item?
Due to the digital nature of our products, all sales are final. Please open a Discord ticket and we'll do our best to help.
Technical
My shell/MLO isn't showing up in-game
Check that the resource is started in server.cfg and that the folder name matches exactly. Check the server console for errors.
I'm getting an escrow error
Make sure your server's license key matches the CFX account that purchased the asset. See the CFX Escrow guide for details.
Can I edit the script config?
Yes — all config.lua files are open and editable. Only the core Lua logic is encrypted via escrow.
